When problems become overwhelming, we can follow David’s example and learn to encourage ourselves in the Lord. Acknowledge what you are facing and accept help, but don’t allow anxiety to make the problem bigger than it really is. Replace worry, stress, and darkness with gratitude and the promises found in God’s Word. The conversations we have with ourselves can either manage our moods or become monsters that control them, so choose words that bring blessing instead of discouragement. Cast your cares upon God while continuing to handle the responsibilities He has given you. When life feels overwhelming, ask yourself whether the problem will matter in eternity and allow God’s promises to restore your perspective.
